Johnny Caruso began styling hair in 1974 on Boston’s famed Newbury Street. His first professional job was at Diego Salon, where he worked for 12 years. In 1986, he moved to the Frank Xavier Salon before heading to Los Angeles in 1987, where he joined the Celestine Agency.

Johnny soon became a sought-after stylist in LA, with editorial assignments for every major fashion magazine. His work has appeared in CR Magazine, At Large Magazine, GQ China, Vogue, Italian Vogue, Vogue Homme, Elle, German Elle, Glamour, French Glamour, Vanity Fair, WWD, Harper's Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, L'uomo Vouge, Premiere, InStyle, Arena, Brides, O the Oprah Magazine, GQ, Details, Town & Country, and Esquire.                     

His national TV commercial work while in LA included British Airways and Aveeno.

In 1991, Johnny settled in New York where he was represented by Bryan Bantry until 2006. Soon after arriving, Johnny began his long-running relationship with Ralph Lauren Advertising that continues to this day.

In addition to styling for every RL men’s label, Johnny has worked with designers Tommy Hilfiger, Elie Tahari, Hugo Boss, Valentino, Max Mara, Calvin Klein, Andrew Marc, Guess Jeans, Esprit, Banana Republic, Avon and Gap. Other clients include Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, Burdines, Martha Stewart Living, Belstaff, Onassis and Target.

For the past 12 years he has been styling live fashion shows every season for Ralph Lauren and has worked on shows for Louis Vuitton, as well.

Throughout his career, Johnny has maintained a practice cutting and styling hair at his private salon in TriBeCa. In addition to style-conscious New Yorkers, Johnny has done assignments for Tyra Banks, Ellen Barkin, Drew Barrymore, Angela Bassett, Annette Bening, Juliette Binoche, Cate Blanchett, Gisele Bündchen, Naomi Campbell, Kim Cattrall, Tyler Clinton, Cindy Crawford, Laura Dern, Cameron Diaz, Janice Dickenson, Celine Dion, Minnie Driver,  Levi Dylan, Jodie Foster, David Hallberg, India Hicks, Iman, Diane Lane, Rafferty Law, Adrianna Lima, McCaul Lombardi, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Stephanie March, Frances McDormand, Gretchen Moll, Kate Nelligan, Gwyneth Paltrow,  Amanda Peet, Paulina Porizkova, Natalie Portman, Rebecca Romijn, Isabella Rosseilini, Ashton Saunders, Claudia Schiffer, Stephanie Seymour, Molly Shannon, Brooke Shields, Alicia Silverstone, Molly Sims, Sissy Spacek, Mena Suvari, Uma Thurman, and Kathleen Turner.
